Child marriage in Ethiopia is an on-going issue and we must support the Ethiopian Government’s efforts to tackle this matter.

Even though marriage below the age of 18 has been outlawed in Ethiopia, children are still marrying at very young ages and their experiences of married life in childhood can be severely traumatic.

I understand that there are long-standing traditions of child marriage in Ethiopia. I support any efforts to make rural communities aware of the physical and psychological effects on young girls of marrying at such a young age can have on the girls.
